Through the eyes of a first-timer
2/20/2008
Last week-end, a friend came to the hotel, which she had only seen on pictures so far. Obviously, I had told her many good things about it, but her emotions reminded me of my own, at my arrival here. Through her eyes, I have relived certain things and I saw details that are now less evident, after a while...
When she arrived, it was the magnificant fireplace which impressed her the most, with its stone mantle and comfortable leather chairs. The atmosphere and warmth of a wood fire, harmonizing perfectly with the hewn-log structure. What a change from her regular down-town life! After her check-in, she goes up to her room and cannot resist the urge to step on the balcony, even with the winter weather outside. Looking at the sunset right across the frozen lake, it’s the fresh and crisp air that fills her lungs. What a nice week-end this will be!
After a cocktail at the central bar and a delicious meal in the dining room, sleep is catching up with her. The coziness of her room seems suddenly quite interesting and she decides to leave the curtains wide open in order to admire the stars, totally free of any light pollution.
On the first morning, it is a hearty breakfast that welcomes her in the dining room. A buffet generously filled with fresh fruits, hot and cold products... there is even an omelet station! After such a meal, she decides to head outside with her snowshoes for a 2-hour stroll. With over 65 kilometres of trails, it is more than enough to free someone from their daily life. In the afternoon, she is interested by health cares, the jacuzzi and steam baths (hammams). When the sun starts going down, she is more than willing to lay down to sleep.
Sunday... last day already. A bit of dogsledding and her pink cheeks seem to light up her face. She is overwhelmed by all the beautiful scenery. Seen from the lake, the hotel can be looked at, in all its beauty. And the glacier...wow ! Her activity ended with a visit at the kennel where puppies are waiting to be hugged.
After such a nice weekend in the outdoors, my friend seem totally relaxed, at ease and thrilled. Although she was a bit sad that she did not have time to participate in all the activities, she promised to come back to try the rest : snowmobiling, ice fishing, horse-back riding, snowtubing, cross-country skiing. This is apart from the future summer trip she intends to do : ATV, fishing, bear and beaver observation, canoe, kayak, private beach, hiking trails, etc.
Winter scene
11/22/2007
The Hotel Sacacomie has recieved its first snow fall ! And it’s not over ! On the morning of November 20th, as soon as I had woken up, I noticed the beautiful whiteness of the landscape, covering houses and cars around my home. I already had an idea of the fairy magic that would accompany me along the way between the village of Saint-Alexis-des-Monts and Hotel Sacacomie, and I was positively surprised. The trees were heavy with pure white snow, and the smaller ones already seemed to bend from their new weight. What a beautiful winter scene ! During the day, it kept snowing slowly. I had to resist the urge to drink a cup of hot chocolate in one of the leather chairs in front of the majestic fireplace at the reception... but in the end, I let the clients take advantage of their comfort.
Today, on November 22nd, another snow fall prooved to me that winter was slowly setting in. We already have more than 15 centimeters ! At this pace, the activities will begin shortly... snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, dogsledding, horse-back riding, sleigh rides. My winter boots are starting to have pins and needles in their laces !

Still in love with Sacacomie
Winter's first snowflakes
11/7/2007
During the day, on November 6th, a light rain was falling on Sacacomie. Some even said they had seen snowflakes... But it is on the morning of November 7th that we have all seen the first snow on the ground between the village of St-Alexis-des-Monts and Hotel Sacacomie. A thin white carpet, covering the last green blades along the road. According to some, we could thus believe that Sacacomie will receive its first storm prior to December 7th, and that the snow will stay!
Automn colours
9/14/2007
September has definitely arrived, with its shorter days, crispy-fresh weather and legendary colours, characteristic of our province. The forest changes and embellishes daily, as the days go by. It is the perfect timing for an ATV activity, a ride on horse-back or a nice walk in one of our wooded trails. Combine business with pleasure and reserve for a date mentionned in our Fall Foliage package!
La Petite Séduction
8/2/2007
The last 20-21-22nd of july, Hotel Sacacomie was hosting the entire team of the TV show La Petite Séduction, when filming in Saint-Alexis-des-Monts, to seduce the actor Claude Legault !
Every week, Dany Turcotte and his special guest take the road and discover new areas. In the visited location, everybody participates in order to make this event unforgettable. It is beautiful to see all the villagers do their best and be more creative than ever in order to seduce the special guest. Nothing is forgotten and everyone has the same goal : that their seduction is a success.
Dany Turcotte really works with a dynamic team !
The presentation of the show is on Wednesday, August 29th, 2007 at 8:00PM, on the Radio-Canada channel.
Be a priviledged witness of the exceptionnal meeting between Claude Legault and Saint-Alexis-des-Monts.

l'Épicerie TV show
6/20/2007
The TV show L'épicerie, presented on June 27th, 2007, at 7:30PM, on the Radio-Canada channel, has the Speckled trout for main subject. The fish is also the emblem of the Saint-Alexis-des-Monts local festival, happening between June 22nd and July 1st, 2007.
Well settled on the dining room terasse overlooking Lake Sacacomie, the sous-chef of the Hotel, Maxime Albert, participated in a short capsule and propose two delicious recipes : a tartar of trout and a papillote of trout. He also gives a little trick to remove the bones easily and quickly.
Sucré Salé TV show
6/18/2007
It was on Wednesday, June 14th, 2007, that the shooting of the TV show Sucré Salé was happening, with the very nice Guy Jodoin and Stéphane Rousseau.
Accompanied by a guide, they took advantage of the wonderful weather to go fishing on Lake SACACOMIE. The show will be presented on the TVA channel, on Monday, June 18th at 6:30PM and again at 10:30PM.
On the road again!
5/23/2007
On the way to Sacacomie, with the song in mind, one may admire the beautiful forest boardering our country roads. The repairs along the Sacacomie road, which began on October 10th, 2006 should be finished... by May 24th, 2007. As a matter of fact, it was on August 14th, 2006 that we learned the good news regarding the 1.6 million dollar investment, from Transports Quebec. Needless to say, their positive answer was very welcome by the users of this road. One more detail that adds to the beauty and magic already related to the region of Lake Sacacomie.
What a nice morning !
5/17/2007
May 17th, 2007.
What a nice snowy morning…. Just enough.... The wonderful scenery, that I have seen every morning for the last 7 years when coming to work, is different from everything I have seen so far. All along the Sacacomie road, the trees, with their leaves still unfolding, are covered with snowflakes. We get the impression of a giant garden of trees filled with white flowers. I feel like Alice in wonderland!
LET IT SNOW !
12/31/2006
At Sacacomie, our winter activities officially began on December 27th, 2006.
Snowmobiling, dog sledding and sleigh rides are all part of the fun.
The magnificent mountainous scenery, dressed in its white coat, welcomes you for a walk, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing in our trails.
Inside, you will be greeted by the warmth of a cosy fire after a whole day spent outside or by our pleasant bar for a gathering with friends...
Succumb to the spell of Indian Summer
9/1/2006
The end of our wonderful summer is drawing near. In a few days, it will be the time for us to gather our energies and take advantage of a colour-filled automn. A beautiful view of Lake Sacacomie and a walk in the multicoloured forest will surely give you an energy boost. A wide variety of activities awaits you, from the softest to the sportiest.
New activities
5/8/2006
A few new activities will be offered to our clients this summer.
Starting in mid-july, children and adults will have the opportunity to visit tipis, accompanied by our Amerindian, and even to spend the night in one of these tipis.
Each visit will include a ride in rabaska-canoe, observation of the fauna and flora and trout fishing. Seated around a campfire, participants will have a chance to hear some traditional storytelling.
A POLAR DOG interpretation center is presently under construction, a few kilometers from the Hotel Sacacomie. Its grand opening is due at the end of july. Children and adults will have the chance to ride jeeps to the interpretation site. More than 150 dogs, as well as a nursery and the take-over puppies, will welcome the visitors. The mushers will gladly explain the life cycle of these animals, and much more information.
